What is a Freedge?
Freedge is a sharing mechanism aiming to reduce food insecurity and food waste, building a stronger community. We promote equal access to healthy food through the installation of community fridges (public refrigerators) that are used to share food and ideas at the neighborhood level.

Give, Take, Share!
Is your garden full of fruits and veggies that you want to share? Are you leaving for the weekend with a full fridge that you want to donate? Drop your items off at the Webster Park Freedge!
What can you donate?
We accept dry and canned food donations for the Freedge. What does that mean? Basically, any food that is “shelf-stable” or nonperishable – you can keep it in your pantry and it won’t go bad. And remember, only donate food that hasn’t reached its “sell-by” date yet.
What not to donate?
The number one rule to remember is this: if your donation is perishable, i.e., it’s something with a limited shelf life if not refrigerated, we won’t accept it. But there are other categories of food that you can’t donate. We’ve broken it all down into this list: items needing refrigeration, expired food, leftovers, food with packaging concerns, or baked goods.

Location
The Webster Park Freedge is located across from the Webster Park Parking lot along N Main Ave in Orono, ME along the Stillwater River.
